trading update

The Greed and Fear model portfolio has had a difficult time finding good entries in the last 3 months of 2021. The market often left without us being there. As explained in many previous posts, the trick is to join after a pullback, but of course without hitting the stop loss. This proved especially difficult with higher volatility. Even when the volatility is average in percentage terms, in points it means a higher and higher amount because of the higher and higher prices. Fortunately, at least no losses were incurred in these last months.

The last time has also been used to see how this can be improved. It will mean that in the future the buy limit will be placed closer and the stop loss wider. This will hopefully lead to more trades with of course a long-term 'edge', or multiple trades. As a result of this, hopefully, more returns will be made on a monthly basis, but there will also be more frequent losses and these will be larger than usual in the past. You could call this a more aggressive trading style, less cautious, and more trading the real signals as they are generated.

The year-to-date result remains unchanged, coming in at $2190.50 in 12 trades for 2021. This is below the $5321 average of the past 4 years. Hopefully, the new approach for 2022 will produce an annual result above this average.
